On June 8, 1991, The Whitehurst's music ministry began with the marriage of Richard Whitehurst to Sue Lynn Beasley. Singing as a duet in the early days, The Whitehursts became regulars at revivals and other special events. After several years of serving the Lord in this capacity, they made the transition from being a local group, to a traveling gospel group. In 1999 The Whitehursts officially became a mixed quartet with the addition of Brent Maready singing bass, and Inga MacArthur singing second tenor. In 2001, Inga decided to come off the road and Laura Roy came on board to sing soprano. In 2003, after many miles and many gospel sings, the decision was made to retire The Whitehursts. This would give Sue Lynn a well deserved break, and the opportunity to help Landon, their daughter, make the transition from elementary to middle school. In the summer of 2003, Richard and Brent formed The Liberty Boys Quartet. For the next two years, Richard served as the lead singer for The Liberty Boys. Finally, in 2005, Richard made the decision to leave The Liberty Boys to embark on an old but new singing ministry with his wife, Sue Lynn. Within a few days of that decision, and after speaking with a mutual friend, Dolan Oakley became the third member of the ministry now known as King's Grace! In July of 2008 Mark Young, who was the piano player in the Whitehurst days, returned full time with the group. In October of 2009 King's Grace welcomed their new bass player Mark Batchelor and are happy to say that Lawrence Glisson will be with the band to continue playing lead and rhythm guitar. In 2010 we still felt the need to grow and that is when John Mark Batchelor joined the band to play drums, banjo, and guitar. In May of 2011 King's Grace was proud to welcome our new drummer Jordan Stallings. |
